A platform connecting the community to care responsibly for our community cats
Disamenities such as littering, cat poop, urine caused by irresponsible cat feeders and owners constituted one of the top complaints by residents. To solve this community problem, residents and various government agencies were brought together to co-develop solutions over a 3-day workshop.
Together with 5 other members, we interviewed multiple stakeholders including cat caregivers, NGO and various government and municipal stakeholders to gather behavioural insights. After few rounds of brainstorming and concept testing, we shortlisted the idea to create a platform to connect the cat caregivers in the community and a registry for community cats. By giving responsible cat caregivers a platform to connect with other community stakeholders, we hope to strengthen community effort towards weeding out irresponsible behaviour.
[my role: user research, user flow mapping, wireframing, app prototyping]
user observations & stakeholder interviews revealed the underlying issues
We conducted various on-ground observation studies and research to uncover user needs and motivations. We drilled down to the core problems to solve and developed solution concepts for further user testing.
Proposed user flow chart
A user flowchart and draft wireframe were developed to map out the platform user experience.
prototype developed for user testing
A prototype of how the cat caregiver platform looked like.
high fidelity prototype
Further useability tests were conducted to finetune the features and gather additional feedback in a design iterative process.
Transforming
our
hawker centre experience
Hawker centre in Singapore is not only an integral part of our social fabric, it also forms an intangible cultural heritage (UNESCO intangible cultural heritage of humanity). To truly preserve our cultural heritage, the hawker experience needs to evolve with time and become an integral part of our cultural experience that we can be proud of. This project aims to contemporize the experience of our hawker centre, to transform it from just a place to dine to one that is rich in social and cultural meaning where new community bonds are formed and strengthened.
ethnographic research reveals the underlying issues
The areas that need a face lift are identified
Proposed
plan layout sketch
A proposed layout plan maps out visually the functions, circulation and flow for various user types.
develop perspective sketch from plan
A perspective sketch illustrates the actual use of space and spatial experience.
Modular tray return system prototype
A prototype of the tray return system that will make food tray return a easy and efficient process, thereby leading to higher hygiene standards.
the future of dressing up
The user interface for a smart walk-in wardrobe that integrates user recommendation, item tracking, IoT applications powered by RFID technology and AI on cloud.
(This is one activity stream within a broader experience design project that integrates digital and physical experiences)
A systematic approach to experience design will ensure rigor in the design process
detailed persona to deep dive into user's needs
Persona helps put more than a face to the design challenge, it creates empathy, allowing the team to better understand the end users.
documenting user's experience journey
A robust journey map documents the activities, thinking and emotions of the user and help identify opportunities for design intervention.
developing prototypes
Low-fidelity paper prototype is a quick and tangible representation of the concept. This then progresses into the hi-fidelity prototype. Usability testing is essential and helps identify improvements to be made.
